Welcome!

Consistent with Temple Beth Or’s founding principles nearly a half century ago, our congregation welcomes you. Temple Beth Or means “House of Light.” As a Reform Jewish congregation, (developed in the early 1800s in response to the many changes of the modern world), we affirm the central tenets of Judaism – God, Torah and Israel – and accept diversity within our beliefs and practices.

We believe all human beings are created in the image of God, and that we are God’s partners in improving the world. Tikkun olam – repairing the world – is a hallmark of Reform Judaism as we strive to bring peace, freedom and justice to all people.

Step inside and feel welcome. Share in our spiritual and moving worship. Drop by our weekly torah study, listen to a guest speaker and discover new insights in a comfortable yet thought-provoking setting. Help repair our larger communities.

We invite you to discover a meeting place where members join together to discover new and meaningful Jewish experiences and to live Jewish lives. And find a place where people join together to celebrate and to find strength.

See why Temple Beth Or is the heart of reform Jewish life in northern Bergen County. Find out why our membership and religious school enrollment is increasing. Enjoy the programs devoted to adult education and participate in our social justice initiatives.
